Transit passengers do not usually need a visa if they are leaving Germany immediately on a connecting flight and do not leave the transit lounge, however check this information with your local consulate (details below of all consulates).

All visitors must carry a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the length of stay except for:

1. EU nationals and nationals of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Norway, San Marino and Switzerland carrying an ID card

If you want to stay longer than 3 months in any circumstances then you must check the requirements at your local consulate.

- Proof of purpose of visit a return ticket
- Proof of medical insurance

- Letter from place of study. Self-addressed envelope (if you are not planning to collect your passport in person)
