Visas Austria

Do you need a visa?

 

Visas are required by all except the following:

- Nationals of all EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland for an unlimited period.

- Nationals of Australia, Canada and USA, Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Ecuador, Guatemala, Israel, Jamaica, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Uruguay and Venezuela for stays of up to 3 months

- Nationals of Japan for stays of up to 6 months

- nationals of the Czech Republic for stays of up to 30 days

All visitors must carry a passport valid for at least 6 months except visitors from EU countries, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, San Marino and Switzerland who can enter with just their ID card.

  Short stay visa: 1 to 30 days 21 Euros
31-90 days 25 Euros
Multi-entry 30 Euros

Validity of visa

  For short stay visas (both single and multi-stay) they are valid for 6 months from issue with a maximum length of stay each time of 90 days.

Documents needed

 

- Passport (valid for at least three months after the expiry date of the visa applied for)
- One recent passport photo
- Application form, completed and signed personally by the applicant
- At least one empty page in the passport
- Detailed itinerary which shows the airport of first entry and duration of stay in each of the Schengen countries
- Foreign Exchange or Proof of sufficient funds (original bank letter or exchange document showing amount changed) for Rand 300,- per day, plus proof of pre paid accomodation, or alternatively Rand 700,-- per day, without pre paid accomodation
- Original return airticket plus copy
- Hotel voucher or an invitation by a person living in Austria (Invitation must be accompanied by proof of police registration in Austria - in German - "Meldezettel" and a copy of the relevant pages of the passport of the person extending the invitation.
- Proof of medical insurance (Insurance policy or airline ticket, paid by credit card - plus copy)
- Children under the age of 21 travelling on their own, must present permission given by both parents or custodian, certified by Commissioner of Oath, in original
- If you are invited by a person with permanent residence in Austria who will be responsible for the costs of your stay, including accommodation, the following documents from the person extending the invitation need to be submitted:

1. Affidavit certified by a public notary in Austria that the person extending the invitation will accept all costs (in German - "Verpflichtungserklärung") in original - and not a copy
2. Copies of the relevant pages of the passport and in addition proof of permanent residence in Austria for Non-Austrian Citizens
3. Proof of sufficient income - in German - "Einkommensnachweis"
4. Proof of police registration in Austria - in German - "Meldezettel"
5. Either a copy of the lease agreement or proof of ownership of a residence (house/apartment) in Austria.
