The University of Klagenfurt is young and dynamic, paying more attention to the individual student rather than to robes and other regalia of academic tradition. It has gained its outstanding reputation thanks to its research and teaching.
Carinthia's Capital Klagenfurt is a wonderful setting with numerous lakes (inluding the famous Wörthersee), woods, meadows and mountains. The city combines history with modern design.

We specialize in Communicative Language Teaching, offering courses in English, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Slovene as well as German. German in Austria is the standard German language, as spoken in all German speaking language areas.
German language in Austria has its own specific qualities:
- a smooth and melodic pronunciation
- in addition to the entire German vocabulary it has specific phrases (Austrianisms), especially in the field of food and beverages as well as politics and administration.
- texts by Austrian authors and the mass media reflect the cultural tradition of the Habsburg Monarchy and the language and culture of the modern republic.
Our staff are exclusively native-speakers and have a solid didactic background and international language course experience. They have knowledge of up-to-date methods of language teaching and use the most progressive teaching methods, regularly taking part in education and training seminars. |
